“Y por cierto que no hemos hecho inmortal a ningún humano. Si tú ¡Oh, Muhammad! [que eres el mejor de la creación] has de morir, ¿por qué razón tendrían ellos [los incrédulos] que vivir eternamente?” (Al Anibia’a, Los Profetas, versículo 34).

Después de su regreso de la Peregrinación de Despedida, el Profeta (SAS) optó por residir en La Medina hasta finales del año 10 de la Hégira. En Muharram del año 11 de la Hégira, el Profeta (SAS) cayó enfermo.

A comienzos de Rabi’e Al-Awwal, concretamente un miércoles, comenzaban los dolores del Profeta (SAS). Sentía, que la oración y la paz sean sobre él, dolores de cabeza y fiebre. Días después, el Profeta (SAS) había pronunciado un sermón en el que había hecho alusión a su muerte.

Subió al púlpito, comenzando por expresar sus alabanzas al Señor:

 “El Señor Pidió a uno de sus siervos elegir entre la vida y lo que Él tiene. El siervo eligió lo que Tiene el Señor”.

Al escucharlo, Abu Bakr (BDSE) lloró porque comprendió que el Profeta (SAS) hablaba de su propia persona.

Después de que las madres de los creyentes dieran su acuerdo para que el Profeta (SAS) permaneciera en la residencia de Aïcha (BDSE), se dirigió a esta residencia acompañado por dos miembros de su familia, Al Abbas y Ali.

Una vez allí su fiebre se agravó.

Aïcha (BDSE) lo describió así:

 “Su llanto impedía a la gente escucharlo. Pidió a Omar presidir la oración”.

El Profeta que la salvación y la bendición de Dios estén con él insistió, repitiendo Aïcha su propuesta. Entonces pidió a Hafsa repetirle sus palabras. El Mensajero de Dios que la oración y la paz sean sobre él les respondió:

“¡Cállense! Sois las damas egipcias de José. Debéis dar a Abou Bakr (BDSE) la orden de presidir la oración”.

Abou Bakr (BDSE) estaba presidiendo la oración del mediodía cuando vio al Profeta (SAS) llegar, apoyado en Al-Abbas y Ali. Quiso dejarle su lugar, negándose el Profeta, oración y la paz sobre él, haciéndole signo de continuar.

“Instaladme junto a ellos”, dijo a los dos hombres.

Abou Bakr (BDSE) seguía la oración del Mensajero de Dios mientras que la gente seguía la de Abou Bakr (BDSE).

El jueves, cuatro días antes de su muerte, la gente estaba reunida en su casa. Pidió algo en que podía escribir.

“Os dictaré un escrito. Si lo seguéis nunca os desviaréis”.

Comenzaron las polémicas a las que puso fin diciendo:

“Tengo algo mejor de lo que me proponéis”.

Les propuso tres recomendaciones:

“Expulsad a los politeístas de la Isla de Arabia. Mostrad hospitalidad y ofreced obsequios a las delegaciones como hacía yo” no reveló la tercera.

El lunes por la mañana, día de su muerte, la gente estaba rezando en una oración presidida por Abou Bakr (BDSE) cuando vieron, perplejos al Profeta (SAS) levantar la cortina de la habitación de Aïcha (BDSE), observándoles rezar. Estaba sonriendo.

Creyendo que el Mensajero de Dios, Él le bendiga y le dé la paz quería unirse a ellos, Abou Bakr (BDSE) quiso levantarse.
